Breathless

BreathlessBreathless by Leigh LaValle

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Breathless is my first book by Leigh LaValle. Breathless is also the first book in the Yoga in the City Book series. I am honestly unsure how exactly I feel on this one. I enjoyed the read. I just didn't find that personal connection that always jumps at me to make the book a keeper for me. I feel that is more of a personal flaw with me. The book itself was well written and had a great story line. Hannah is looking for roots and Jake is the hometown hero who is home for a stint from Afghanistan.

Hannah is one of multiple females who recently bought a small town Yoga studio. Her and her friends teach in the studio and jumped at the chance to buy it. With some mishaps with lease she gets the pleasure of meeting the landlord. Whom just happened to have rescued her out of the woods not long before.

Jake is home recouping from an injury and can not wait to get back to action. So while he is waiting he will begin renovations on one of his projects. He is rather astonished to find the woman he has been looking for is one of his very own tenants.

How exactly did he manage to look like sex on a stick at the end of a long day? He had this whole badass look going on, late-afternoon scruffiness over his jawline, making her want to rub against him like a cat.
Bad, bad Carly. “I wanted to talk to you about something anyway.”
“Oh, yeah. I haven’t had a whole lot of luck finding another sitter. I’ll make a few calls tonight.” He followed her into the family room.
“That’s not it. I need a favor.”
“Done.”
“You don’t even know what it is yet.”
He gave her an easy smile. “Doesn’t matter.”
“Be careful, Levi Lambert. You never know what I might ask.”
“Bring it on.” His eyes filled with obvious male appreciation.
She was reminded of her bare legs. The look he slid her was so full of heat that she thought her panties might spontaneously burst into flames. Focus, Carly, focus.
“I want to put photos of Grace on my website. I took some cute ones today.” She took her phone out and showed them to him. Shots of Grace staring with delight at a tree as if she’d just discovered them. Smiling as she watched a child playing ball, staring wide-eyed at a woman walking her poodle down the street.
“You took her to the park. She loves it there.” Levi didn’t take the phone from her, but instead held her wrist and brought the phone up closer.
Her stupid wrist tingled as if it thought it might be about to have a good time. She cleared her throat. “I know. Just look at this one. I think she noticed a cloud for the first time.”
He grinned, still holding her wrist. “Nah, she saw one last week.”
“Right. So…is it okay if I put her photos up? She’s an adorable baby.”
“Fine with me.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll never share her real name with my readers. And no one has any idea that the company is based in Fortune. My mother took great precautions to protect our privacy.”
“I trust you.” His big, rough hand slid from her wrist to her elbow, and the tingle traveled.
“Thank you.” She stared at his lips, willing him to kiss her. “The trust is…important.”
“Extremely.”
That talented hand now settled on her waist and pulled her closer. And somehow her hands were squeezing his biceps and she went up on the balls of her feet to get closer still. He kissed her long and deep, his hot, wet tongue insistent. It got wild and crazy as her hands fisted his shirt and his hands palmed her ass.
“Levi.” She broke off from the kiss, breathless. “We probably shouldn’t do this. It’s not…a good idea.”
He pressed his forehead to hers. “You’re right.”
Great. He agreed with her. “It’s stupid.”
“Yeah.” He tugged her in tighter and kissed her again. And again.
She threaded her fingers through his hair and moaned into his mouth.
And they continued to be crazy stupid for the next hour.

Review: Twins for the Billionaire

Twins for the Billionaire Twins for the Billionaire by Sarah M. Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twins for the Billionaire by Sarah M. Anderson is part of the Billionaire's and Baby series. Sofia and Eric have known each other since child hood except somehow life got in the way of things and they lost contact for years.

Sofia is a single mother whom is also widowed. She has to find a new job to raise her twins. She knows this job is a means to finding a home of their own and getting back on her feet.

Eric is a Billionaire he has built his family business into more than it could have ever been. When a childhood friend comes to him looking for a job he gives it to her without a second thought. His only problem is he isn't sure if he wants her as an employee or in his bed.

The relationship between Sofia and Eric is taboo in multiple ways. They are boss and employee, best friends from childhood, and she is a single mother who has to put her children first. I loved the chemistry between the two. I think I loved how easy it was for them to just fall into place within each other's lives.

Review: Close Contact

Close Contact Close Contact by Lori Foster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Close Contact by Lori Foster is the third book in the Body Armor series. If you have not read a book by Lori Foster than you are truly missing out. I haven't found one of her books that I can't finish in one setting! This series is based on former MMA fighters turning into bodyguards, whom work for the Body Armor agency. This is an intense romance in need of a second chance. Miles was left without so much as a word by Maxi and all of sudden she walks back into his life needing protection.

Miles was a legend in the MMA. His career was remarkable yet he decided to leave to become a bodyguard. Miles has had a short career at the Body Armor agency so when he gets awakened by his boss for a case he rushes to the agency only to find the one woman who shattered his heart and he hoped to never see again.

Maxi has always made mistakes. She is the families black sheep. So when her grandmother passes and leaves her home and cats to Maxi she has to defend them at all cost. Someone is trying to scare her off her grandmothers farm. At first she thought she was loosing her mind because it was little things. Now she realizes she has bite off more than she can chew. She needs the one man who she knows can protect her, but will he be willing to let her back into his life?

Fast paced, intense sexual chemistry that has never diminished leads this book. I love the suspense and mystery of Close Contact. I could not put this book down. I had to finish it.

Shae moved her gaze over their surroundings in a methodical sweep, the eyes she’d squinted against the glare of the late-morning sunlight going round and wide as they landed on Quinn. “So,” she said, dropping her voice but not the ear-to-ear smile that told Luke nothing good was going to come from their now-private conversation. “About Quinn.”
“What about her?” Luke stared holes in the pick-off strap he’d pre-rigged before the drill, willing his fingers to steadily fasten the stupid thing to the main attachment point on Shae’s harness. Rope rescue. Safe transfer. Focus.
“You two have been spending some time together lately, huh?”
His stomach knotted before dropping toward his hips. “Quinn has been helping with my paramedic training,” he said, selecting his words with care. After a really hairy call had led the house to a gruesome arson/murder scene three months ago, Luke had been surprised to discover he had a fear of blood. But since he also wanted to help people as a first responder, he couldn’t let that fear—debilitating as it had been—stand in the way of him doing the job that would keep people safe.
So he’d done what he always did. He’d taken a step back to quietly attack the problem, devoting himself not only to the rest of his fire and rescue training, but to earning his certification as a paramedic at the same time. Yeah, the workload was intense, and no, balancing both didn’t leave him much time for luxuries outside of sleep or hot meals. He wasn’t exactly a stranger to balls-out hard work, though. In fact, he and hard work were more like what his seventeen-year-old sister Hayley would call “besties”. Not that Luke had any freaking clue what that might actually entail, since he never got past the handshake and Heisman stage with anyone.
That whole arm’s length thing? So not an overstatement.
At any rate, Luke had his sister and their grandmother, Momma Billie. He didn’t need a bunch of Lifetime Original moments to distract him from his goal. He’d attained his full qualifications as an EMT six weeks ago. Official paramedic status would be in his reach before the year was out, provided he could continue to keep his seemingly sudden-onset fear of blood at bay. He was well on his way to becoming a full-fledged firefighter, like he’d always wanted. Just as long as he could keep both his focus and his distance, he’d be fucking stellar.
Quinn looked up with a grin and a wave before heading back into the fire house, and Christ, did she really have to have a set of cutely sexy dimples he could see all the way from here?
“Helping you with your paramedic training,” Shae echoed, her quiet murmur tumbling him right back to the here and now of the side wall of the engine bay.
Luke concentrated on the equipment in his hands, the clink of the carabiners and the soft hiss of the nylon ropes as he continued with the rope transfer while he spoke. “Sure. She’s been giving me tips and tricks to remember different procedures, telling me the fastest ways to safely do workups. Stuff like that.”
“Ah.” Shae waited a beat while he clipped the backup carabiner for the line transfer into place. “You know, it wouldn’t be terrible if you liked her.”
“I do like her.” The words shoveled out of his mouth by default. He double-checked the carabiner. Adjusted the slack in his line. Mentally kicked himself square in the nuts. “She’s nice.”
Shae made a noise Momma Billie would have described as unladylike. “You know what I mean, Slater. Don’t be a dumbass.”
And that was the problem, right there. He was a dumbass. He didn’t just like Quinn in a casual friends, good co-workers, she’s-helping-me-with-my-training kind of way. Nope. He was attracted to her. From the minute he’d clapped eyes on Quinn on his very first day as a rookie, Luke had had this reckless desire to kiss her. To hook his fingers in that waterfall of blond waves spilling down her back, to part her lips with his tongue and taste her until he ran out of air.
And he didn’t want to stop at her mouth.

Fate brings Ty and Aiyla together, but will tragedy tear them apart?

THRILL OF LOVE

The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor, MD #6

Melissa Foster

Releasing Oct 4, 2017

World Literary Press

Do you believe in fate?

World-renowned mountain climber and nature photographer Ty
Braden never believed in second dates, much less heart-pounding,
steal-his-breath love. But that was before a trip to Saint-Luc, where he met
funny, strong, and entrancingly beautiful Aiyla Bell, a ski instructor and
fellow photographer whose hopes and dreams, and love of the outdoors, aligned
perfectly with his—and whose kisses alone turned him inside out.

After spending five magical days and four sweet, soulful
nights falling in love, Aiyla couldn’t imagine a day without Ty. But when he
asked her to go with him on his next assignment, his reputation for having
women at his beck and call stopped her from upending the life she’d worked so
hard to create.

Months later fate steps in when a chance encounter brings Ty
and Aiyla together for a five-day wilderness event held in the Colorado
Mountains. Their deep, passionate connection is stronger than ever, and Ty is
bound and determined not to lose her again. But when tragedy strikes and their
worlds are turned upside down, their love faces the truest test of all.
