Review: Eye Candy

Don’t trust lust at first sight.

EYE CANDY
Real Love #1
Jessica Lemmon
Releasing July 25th, 2017
Loveswept

Don’t trust lust at first sight. One woman chooses reality over fantasy in this friends-to-lovers romance.

Jacqueline:

As an adult woman—and the vice president of a marketing firm—I shouldn’t be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he’s a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can’t bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend–slash–colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he’s borderline obsessive about “getting me laid.” (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it’s clear: The one I’m falling for is Vince.

Vince: Jackie Butler’s got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn’t bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can’t ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything’s going according to plan . . . until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly anything is possible.

This book is funny, sexy, and intriguing. I loved every minute of it. It is a book that that is hard to put down. I couldn't wait to see the next way that these two were going to try and avoid the feelings they had so they couldn't ruin a friendship. This is a friends first romance.

I absolutely loved Jackie-o and Vince, Davis is pretty intriguing as well. I am sure we will get his story soon. If you want a story that leaves you laughing and still gooey from love this is a great read for you. I can not wait to get my hands on Arm Candy and Man Candy.

Review: His Secret Alaskan Heiress

His Secret Alaskan Heiress His Secret Alaskan Heiress by Belle Calhoune
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is full of a community that loves each other without fail. They care about each other like they are family. It is a very tight nit close group. They believe in forgiveness and as well as making sure everyone around finds the love of a lifetime.

Sophie and Noah both kept pretty major secrets and both felt betrayed by each other. The love that developed between them was enough to over come this issue though.

This was such a sweet and endearing read about the Alaskan grooms.

Review: The Boss's Fake Fiancee

The Boss's Fake Fiancee The Boss's Fake Fiancee by Susan Meier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adored Lila and Mitch. This story is downright charming. It takes you through all emotions from fear of being loved to being loved. The realness and heartfeltness of this story is stunning. I couldn't put it down. Thank you Susan for such a wonderful piece of work.

Lila had dressed as a mousy assistant for a year. She had been right under Mitch's nose and fell extremely hard for him. She knew putting herself in a position to pretend to be his fiancé was a risk to her heart, but she loved him and would do pretty much anything to help him.

Mitch had saved the family business but he didn't do that till his girlfriend left him for his brother. So in order to prove that it didn't bother him he worked hard to create a whole new life with the business. Yet now he has to face the family at the wedding of his brother and the woman whom he once dated. How can he do that without pretending to be happy himself.

Review: Sheik Defense

Sheik Defense
by
Ryshia Kennie

GENRE:   Romantic Suspense

BLURB:
Tossed overboard, Ava Adams had been left for dead, drifting at sea.  But security specialist Faisal Al-Nassar was determined to find her.  He owed her father a great debt and had never forgotten the connection he and Ava had once shared.  Yet after rescuing Ava he discovered she barely remembered him. Amnesia had left Ava uncertain of who had tried to kill her.  She did know, however, that Faisal was a man she could trust.  The sheik's embrace was familiar and enticing...and possibly even more dangerous.  How could she succumb to feelings for her protector when what she didn't know could get them both killed?

EXCERPT:
Ben wasn’t sure how it had happened. But he’d gotten lucky and landed in the water.  He’d just missed hitting his head on the way down. He’d seen Dan fall overboard but then he’d fallen over himself.  It didn’t matter, he’d planned to swim to shore anyway.  He’d shot Dan first and he’d gone over a dead man.  The yacht was on autopilot, its navigational system dead, heading somewhere out to sea.  In other circumstances he might have laughed.  It would keep the authorities occupied trying to find the boat.

There was only one threat left and that was the little witch of a daughter Dan had managed to dump in the life raft.  There’d been nothing he could do to stop him.  It had all happened so fast.  He felt a twinge of regret.  Now Dan was gone and the yacht was already too far away to be a consideration.  He’d raised the anchor before the altercation began.

He swam toward shore. He’d locked in his mind in what direction and how far away they had drifted.  Yet the weather system was moving in faster than had been reported.  It was a squall, and that and his aching shoulder had him gulping water and struggling as the weather worsened.  Combine the weather with the fact his clothes weighed him down, and it was rough going.  He reached down, wrestling with the laces of his oxfords, finally managing to get them off and tie them to the belt loop of his pants.  It wasn’t supposed to go like this.  He wished he hadn’t had to kill Dan, but once he’d made the decision, he’d accomplished what he meant to.  He’d shot Dan and he’d fallen overboard.  Now there was only one problem he had to resolve before he became a rich man.  The one fly in the ointment was Dan’s daughter.  She wasn’t supposed to be on the yacht.  Yet, there she’d been like it was her right.  He hadn’t liked her the first and only other time he’d met her.

She’d heard too much and she’d injured him.  Neither offense could be forgiven.  A wave pushed him backward and had him swallowing water.  He choked and flipped onto his back, resting, thinking.  He had to get to shore and then he had to find Ava Adams, and when he did, the little witch had to die.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

The Canadian prairies are my home and while the prairie landscape is blessed with beautiful blue skies, it also has four seasons that come on full throttle – especially winter and because of that I like to travel.  Often on those trips, stories are born.   In 2011 I won my city's writing award, and was the first romance writer to do so since its inception.  In 2013 my romantic suspense was a semi-finalist in the Kindle Book Awards.  Published in historic romance and paranormal romance as well as romantic suspense, in February 2016, my first novel was published by Harlequin Intrigue. There’s no lack of places to set a story as my imagination and the too long prairie winters may find me seeking adventure.  The memories of those worlds both near and far, the words of a stranger, the furtive look one man gives another, often become the catalyst for a suspenseful story with a deadly villain and an intrepid hero and heroine who must battle for their right to love or even their right to live.  When not dreaming of other stories, I can be found scouting out a garage sale or two, dusting off my roller blades or just thinking about the next adventure that may be miles away or in my own backyard.

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers #3
Addison Cole
Releasing July 19, 2017

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Hearts at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel Seaside Hearts. The stories and characters remain the same and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In HEARTS at SEASIDE...
Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident--except when she's around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother's new cougar lifestyle, Jenna's giving up on Peter--and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He's looking forward to seeing his friend Jenna, a welcome distraction who's so sexy and painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete's true feelings, and he's unable to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete's not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Can Jenna handle the real Pete Lacroux--the most alpha male she's ever seen--or will she crack under pressure? And can Pete reclaim the life he once had without tearing apart his family?

This book has everything you could want sex, friendship, love, laughter, and jealousy.

“Do you want to dance?” His voice was deep and carried an undercurrent of desire.
No. I want you to kiss me again. “You’ll dance with me?”
“Babe, I’d do anything with you.”

Awww... .Could Pete be anymore perfect? Pete stole my heart. The way he treats Jenna like an absolute queen is astounding. It may have taken him years to get there but once he realized she was the one for him and if he didn't get his crap together he may loose her everything fell into place. I think what I enjoyed most about this book was we got to watch the courting part of the relationship. The book wasn't just the constant back and forth with them fighting the feelings they had for each other. I really enjoyed this one and I must say it is a first Addison Cole book for me I think. I will be reading more.
